Novegro Mostra Scambio is held in Milan each year at a fairground right next to the Linate airport. Because it's held in winter the crowd is mostly local - Italians, Germans with a few Brits thrown in for good measure. Americans are rare, the combination of the dollar vs the euro and the expected weather generally keeps them away. The meet covers three huge structures and a number of lots outside. So many people attend it's crazy - vendors and buyers are everywhere as far as the eye can see. And what they have for sale, well, that's where the photos come in because there's no way to describe it - from the amazing to the undefinable, it's all here in droves. Join me for a look at Novegro....

Motorcycle swap meets take place almost every weekend in Italy year round. Some are small street fairs, combined with antiques and collectables. Novegro is pure - cars and motorcycles with a few bicycles thrown in, all else need not apply.
On one hand, it's what you would expect, rows and rows of Vespas, Lambrettas and small cc Italian motos. Italy has produced over 2000 brands in the last 100 years and you can find a staggering amount of them represented here - we saw at least 5 Demm Dick Dick's, 2 Bologna Motor's, a couple Guzzioni's and the list goes on...
The event has well outgrown the fairground, traffic is hideous and people are shoulder to shoulder but tradition in Italy is everything and Novegro is a tradition
Two big buildings like this, a tent with wood floors and acres and acres and acres of surrounding grounds begin to fill on Friday. By Saturday it's brimming over with vendors
Many arrive like this, space in Italy is at a premium everywhere
On Friday the air is full of shouting Italian, unloading trucks is creative business
Not everything is for sale. These two beauty's were restored by a man who brought them just for show.
The workmanship was beautiful on them both
Some bikes were clearly special. No point in even asking the price, they were destined for better greatness than my garage
New, old, if it's motorcycle related and you had the patience for the hunt, you can probably find it here
