If you are a lover of Italian motorcycles you know that historically, this is the week the industry gathers to show off it's best efforts. To the Italian way of thinking all new product introductions of note must be introduced on Italian soil and the Milan show is the big beneficiary of that. The 10,000 pound gorilla of motorcycle shows, EICMA takes place in a series of giant halls that take days of walking to cover. Most booths have warrens of offices in the centers behind closed doors with models making appointments and giant wheels of parmesian and bottles of Prosecco lined up to snack on while you wait for your appointment with a CEO. It's another world, where business, design and horsepower collide. We wouldn't miss it for the world and now you won't either....

Milan, Italy. Home to the biggest motorcycle show and some pretty amazing architechture. Photos cannot do this church justice, it's so large as one of the group I am with said, it's could have it's own weather system!
What I love about EICMA (and Milan) is you never know what you might see.
This year, unlike most in the past, I arrive to fablous weather. After a quick walk in the piazza we head over to the kick off event of this years show, the Ducati press conference.
EICMA talkes place in a fairgrounds built with this show in mind. To say it's huge doesn't do it justice. It's easy to spend 3 full days here. Just to walk from one end of this main walk by the center of the exibition halls takes more than 30 minutes
Show setup is a wonder of the world. It's a city and it literally comes in over a couple of days. With only a few work hours left before the opening bell, it's a madhouse of activity
Ducati is on a giant high right now, with Casey Stoner as Motogp Champion and Ducati as manufacturers champion the mood in the room is expectant. These days there's not much these guys can't pull off. Here's Gabriele Del Torchio recapping the perfect season.
Followed by the new 1098R. That Claudio Dominicalli telling the media why they need one of these. Like they didn't already know. :-)
Finally the bike everybody in the room has been waiting to see, the newest version of the Ducati Monster. The Monster represents roughly half of Ducati sales. The introduction of a new model is a huge event.
