It happened so fast. Over 8 feet of water in just over an hour. I took photos but there's nothing here that can capture the feel of witnessing the unbelievable destruction

It stopped ONE INCH from our top step, which you can see on the near side of the photo. I used to think this building was kind of overbuilt. No longer.
That gray building on the left got it really bad. It's owner spent the day on the roof shouting into his cell phone. The water was to the top of the door
The view from the back of the shop. That white van off in the distance is our "magic bus" now renemed the "Mansfield Water Bus" after the water bus's that taxi people around the river in Fort Lauderdale where I have a home.
The parking lot next to that yellow building is where we tried to cross and had to go back because the water would have been over our heads and I was carrying my dog.
Some cars are totally under water, you can't even see them
It finally started to slowly recede about noon. By the end of the day it was mostly gone.
