When I'm not lurking behind a camera I sometimes contract to organize historical motorcycle exhibits, so I go from Cameraman to Museum Curator. Vintage Motorcycle Days (or VMD as it's known) offers a unique oppertunity to really expolore the history because of the size of the display so from my love of Italian motorcycle history perspective, it's impossible to resist the chance to "show off the history". In 2006, the featured marque was MV Agusta and Agostini was coming, how could I resist?Join me for "how I spent my summer vacation".

Ducati > Giacomo Agostini. The most successful rider in history, 15 world titles (and not one serious spill in all that time), even Valentino Rossi has yet to break his record.
Ducati > The highlight of Vintage Days is the Marque of the Year Museum. This years exhibit was MV Agusta. $5 Million in bikes brought together by private owners at their own expense sums up the passion the marque inspires. Organizing it all takes us months and months but the results are really worth it. Because of the size of the tent it's possible to display the entire MV lineage from the beginning to current in a historical timeline that really shows off the heritage and it's evolution.

Ducati > This beautiful 1959 175 CSTEL was restored for the event. It belonged to the owners father and he has photos of it with his Dad standing next to it as a boy.

Ducati > Barbers Museum in Leeds Alabama brought this stunning Ago racer as well as the Surtees bike on the right. Incredibly valuable, loaned to us for the weekend on a handshake, these guys are guinely committed to bringing the history to the public and go to a lot of trouble to do it. If you haven't visited Barbers museum in Leeds, Alabama, it's a must do trip for bike lovers. For me it's more like a pilgrimage where I go to worship!
