Loved Ones both Singles and Twins : "Could you bring out a couple of bikes that the Ferrari guys might appreciate?" asked Eric Rassmusan from Cavallino, the annual Ferrari convention in Palm Beach, FL. I took these photos at the end of the day after the Friday track day at Moroso Motorsports Park of the three bikes we brought out for display. These three bikes are personal favorites, rare and special - all three began life in Bologna, traveled to other countries and ended up here in the USA. One, the 175SS literally changed my life. It's my absolute favorite machine. Turns out Sandhill Cranes like it too.... Photos by Vicki Smith

Novegro Motorcycle Swap Meet, Milan Italy, November 2007 : Novegro Mostra Scambio is held in Milan each year at a fairground right next to the Linate airport. Because it's held in winter the crowd is mostly local - Italians, Germans with a few Brits thrown in for good measure. Americans are rare, the combination of the dollar vs the euro and the expected weather generally keeps them away. The meet covers three huge structures and a number of lots outside. So many people attend it's crazy - vendors and buyers are everywhere as far as the eye can see. And what they have for sale, well, that's where the photos come in because there's no way to describe it - from the amazing to the undefinable, it's all here in droves. Milan Motorcycle Show 2007 : If you are a lover of Italian motorcycles you know that historically, this is the week the industry gathers to show off it's best efforts. To the Italian way of thinking all new product introductions of note must be introduced on Italian soil and the Milan show is the big beneficiary of that. The 10,000 pound gorilla of motorcycle shows, EICMA takes place in a series of giant halls that take days of walking to cover. Most booths have warrens of offices in the centers behind closed doors with models making appointments and giant wheels of parmesian and bottles of Prosecco lined up to snack on while you wait for your appointment with a CEO. Bologna - NCR workshop - the bike comes to life! : For the seventh time in as many summers we "the Vicki Group" as they call us on the Motogiro, referring to the ever growing group of North Americans who attend year after year, are back in Bologna for the Motogiro d'Italia 2007. This year the event begins and ends in Sicily, where we are slated to asend Mount Etna which is (unfortunatly) currently the worlds "most active volcano". Translation? It's spewing flames and ashes a mile into the Sicilian sky but somehow no one seems too concerned. Why? Because it's Italy, and that's why we love it here. Nothing is a problem, the food and people are fantastic and the riding is the best in the world. The adventure always begins in Bologna where Ducati's are born and the historic NCR shop is located. Day one begins at the workshop of Rino Caracchi, for the reunion with Rino, his family and one of the groups Ducati racebike's, which has arrived on Rino's doorstep in cartons..... By Vicki Smith

Motorcycle Hall of Fame Induction Weekend 2006, Pickerington, Ohio : This year the Motorcycle Hall of Fame honored Cook Neilson for being the only man to ever win a Daytona Superbike race on a Ducati. Cook and Phil Schilling pulled this feat off as privateers, making the accomplishment all the more incredible. Here are the photos from the induction ceremony and the bike show held on the museum grounds. The Hall of Fame Museum show is an invitation only show, now in it's 5th year and is probably the toughest motorcycle show in the US at this time because it attracts the winners of virtually all the other notable shows and attracts a real balance of all makes, models and conditions. I spent the best part of the day looking at these pedigreed motorcycles of every kind imaginable through a camera lens and hope you enjoy the results. Vicki edit

VMD 2006 - MV Agusta : When I'm not lurking behind a camera I sometimes contract to organize historical motorcycle exhibits, so I go from Cameraman to Museum Curator. Vintage Motorcycle Days (or VMD as it's known) offers a unique oppertunity to really expolore the history because of the size of the display so from my love of Italian motorcycle history perspective, it's impossible to resist the chance to "show off the history". In 2006, the featured marque was MV Agusta and Agostini was coming, how could I resist?Join me for "how I spent my summer vacation".

Ducati Daytona Biketoberfest Grand Opening - Destination Daytona, Florida : Motorcycle World Domination, thy name is Destination Daytona. The vision of Bruce Rossmeyer, one of the largest Harley Davidson dealers in the world (maybe he is the largest?) Destination Daytona is to be all things motorcycle to all people. First order after the Harley store, hotel and lots of food and beverages was the addition of Ducati Daytona. Biketoberfest was the perfect time to have a party so that's when the grand opening was planned. Naturally a good time was had by all. I had a chance to wander around the complex and document some of the fun, interesting and beautiful things on view. Enjoy! Vicki

Morbidelli Museum May 2006, Pesaro Italy : The Morbidelli Museum is located in Pesaro Italy, very near the start place of this years Motogiro d'Italia. This is the second year we have visited what many people consider to be one of the most important collections of motorcycles in the world. It's the result of 25 years of research and collecting - 3000 sq meters, 400 motorcycles ranging from 1900 to 1980. Giancarlo Morbidelli, creator of the museum and father of Gianni Morbidelli F1 racing driver, has been passionate for motorcycles since childhood. With his engineering company as sponsor he built his own racing motorcycles and won 4 world titles in the 70s. He might be best known for producing his own motorcycle. A V8 850cc motorcycle, you may have seen one on display in the Art of the Motorcycle or at the Barber Museum in the USA. He's a staple in the Italian motorcycling industry, considered a mechanical genius and immensly respected worldwide. The museum maintains limited hours, this visit was by pre-arrangement on a Sunday at a time they are normally closed. As, in the past we felt lucky to be able to visit this shrine to this amazing man's life work. Vicki Smith

Motorcycle Swap Meet and NCR visit May 2006 - Bologna Italy : We started out at Rino Caracchi's NCR workshop where I met "Vicki 5", my mount for this years event as well as had a visit with the Caracchi family. Then it was off to Gambettola for the mostra scambio (swap meet in Italian) for two days of bargain hunting (with much success!) For those who have a passion for bargains and the thrill of the hunt, as well as a love of old motorcycles, Italy's "mostra scambio's" are heaven on earth. This one was about 30 minutes from Rimini, the city that will host the start of the 2006 Motogiro d'Italia, was both antiques and motorcycles, attended mostly by locals (unlike the bigger sales) and provided two days of entertainment as well as a couple of new motorcycles and quite a few additions to the parts bin and collection back in the US. What can I say? We're not sure if it's a passion or an addiction but we had a great time!

Fitted with high compression pistons, flat slide carbs, two into one large header exhaust recent complete top end overhaul, Corbin seat, new battery In excellent mechanical condition. $4250.00 Here's what I say: I have a 750SS that was bought within a couple of weeks of this one back in 1993. It's been a fantastic bike and as a "girl's bike" I could not reccomend this model higher.
