Each year Ducati.net travels to Italy in the off season. Italy in November is very different than in the summer high season - different weather is just the beginning, the unique foods in season , the Christmas displays, the winter fashions, and the smaller crowds all add up to a vacation quite unlike what you get in summer. So, after the EICMA motorcycle show we took some time to enjoy Italy in winter. This years trip was a group of 15, started in Milan, moved to Florence and ended in Rome. For me, one of best things is the completely different light, the photos look nothing like summer which is what most people think of when they think of Italy. Photos and captions by Vicki Smith
View from the Piazza Michelangelo, in my opinion the best view of the city
In Italy it's not unusual to see cabbage used in floral arrangements. This is part of one grown in the piazza.
The gate of San Minato al Monte, (the most perfect church you'll ever see)located on the hill over looking the city.
A cat that lives in the church graveyard. He was really friendly and must have weighed 12 pounds. He had a hidey hole in the church wall which is where he was when I shot this.
On the exterior wall of the church
One of my favorite shots. It's what you see on the backside of the church but to me it just looks like Tuscany because the trees are very typical of what you see in that region.
