Year Two for the Indygp and the one thing we all knew for sure was the weather had to be better. No hurricane and a years worth of fine tuning turned a good weekend into a great one. Near perfect weather and a new Ducati Island layout was the centerpiece of 5 days of non-stop activity. Parties, rides, and great racing on both asphalt and dirt attracted both racing heroes and regular folk and the resulting mix was memorable. Join us for Ducati Island and Project Mugello weekend at Indy Motogp 2009.......
The Project Mugello Grandstand. This is where is all began last year - What if some Ducati club guys called the speedway and got a bunch of seats together? This year the grandstand was in turn one on Ducati Island with an expansive view of the track and the large screen TV. Life was good
9 am Friday morning and Ducati Island was filling up fast
Best way not to miss anything? Check the schedule and listen for this guy, Craig, the "voice of Ducati Island"
Lets check out the scene.........
First stop, Foremost Gear Check
Gear Check, like the rest of Ducati Island is largely staffed with "Team Ducatisti" volunteers. So those friendly faces you see everywhere helping out are other Ducati owners, making the weekend run smooth for us all
Lets head over to the island entrance, the Ducati Museum
It's a real museum made up of rare and iconic Ducati motorcycles and memorabilia loaned from private collectors. That's a 1948 Cucciolo on loan from Jim Dillard's VintageMotos Museum in Denver, a 1958 175SS Ducati and a 1970 Mark 3D. The last two live at my house. :-)
The smaller Ducati's were among the most photographed bikes on the island, there were people lined up to take photos of them all weekend long
