Wrooom 2013 Photo Gallery : It's time to WROOOM! Preparations are made for the unveiling of the Desmosedici GP13, scheduled for Jan. 15th evening in a mountaintop chalet at Madonna di Campiglio. In the meantime, the bikes were transported up the mountain, clearly under wraps, behind a snowcat, arousing the curiosity of the skiers on the slopes. Tues am, the two Ducati Team riders held the first press conference of the event that symbolically marks the start of the international motorsports season. Wrooom 2013 continued on Wednesday with press conferences for Bernhard Gobmeier, the new General Manager of Ducati Corse, and Stefano Domenicali (Ferrari Team Principal). Thursday, it was be the turn of the Ferrari drivers, whereas Friday’s grand finale features a spectacular exhibition challenge, with the MotoGP riders and Formula 1 drivers facing off in karts on the town’s frozen lake. Vicki's View - the ultimate Ducati vacation - WDW 2012 and the World Presidents Meeting - Part One - The Ride : For me, it's a rite of summer, riding Ducati motorcycles in Italy. There's just something about the air and the light and the roads and of course the people, that makes me feel there is no better use for my time and money. So for me to call this the ultimate Ducati vacation there's clearly something else going on besides the usual nirvana. And there is. It's WDW year and combined with that is the world meeting of Ducati Club Presidents. This year that meeting starts at the Ducati factory, with 6 days of riding the best roads Italy has to offer in the company of friends from all over the world, and ends with four days of bright red Ducati insanity aka: World Ducati Week. I have never missed a WDW, this is my 7th one and it's shaping up to be by far the biggest one yet. Cook's Last Ride : Cook Neilson had decided, quite some time ago that when and if he took his last ride on a racetrack it would be here, at Barber, on the exact replica of the California Hot Rod known as "Deja Blue". It had been 35 years since he and Phil won Daytona and Old Blue now quietly resided in a collectors living room, it's music bottled in it's engine, perfectly preserved atop an oriental rug. A few years before, the Barber museum staff had commissioned Rich Lambrechts of DesmoPro to make an exact replica and exact it was. So much so that when the bike was rolled out for the first time both Cook and Phil thought somehow Barber's had managed to buy Old Blue.... 1199 Panigale Intro Party - Ducati Forza, Pompano, FL : It's finally here in the US. The 1199 Panigale has landed at dealers and this weekend in a nationwide roll out the bike was unveiled to the (adoring) public. This is our local dealer, where a couple hundred people were expected and at least twice that showed up to get a look at what clearly is a game changer for the superbike market segment.

NCR Ducstock 2011 National Ducati Party, Barber Motorsports Park : It had been a decade since DRA, the national Ducati party in Las Vegas and it was high time for another crack at a big get together. Ducati.net thought the perfect venue for it would be Barber Vintage Festival, the yearly event that's a pure celebration of the love of motorcycles of all types, new and old. So that's how NCR Ducstock came to be. 2011 was the 30th anniversary of the Ducati TT/F1 so that became the featured marque. It took a village to pull it off, NCR sponsored it, lots of Ducati Owner Clubs pitched in, Steve Munro of Loudbike along with Lou Saif and Ralph Stechow organized the TT's and F1's and I took the rest. Ducstock - 5 Days of Ducati Music is now in our rearview mirrors but the photos tell the tale. I have included more photos than usual because there were so many great Ducati's on display, in the show and just plain riding around I felt it a shame not to include them. Ducati TT Symposium : For the second year, Lou Saif, Ducati TT guru, and Ralph Stechow, noted collector, held a private gathering of some of the most important Ducati race bikes Ducati ever offered. As expected, the turn out of both motorcycles and the people that appreciate these special machines was outstanding. When MotoGP returned to the brickyard 3 years ago it was a return to a tradition that went back to 1909 when motorcycles were the first machines to race on the bricks. Now, 102 years later, it's an International scene, dominated by sponsers and riders that call other countries home. Ducati Owners Club of South Florida Multistrada 1200 Sneak Peek Dinner : Friday afternoon, Daytona Bike Week. Chris Jones and I are watching a steady stream of admirers checking out the only Multistrada 1200S in North America which is making it's dealer debut at Daytona Bike Week. It's on national tour of IMS shows and has arrived in Daytona straight from the National Dealer Show where most of the Ducati dealers in North America have just gotten a first look. I mention it seems a shame that it's so close to South Florida and it's schedule doesn's allow it to come south and Chris says's "what about DOCSF's Tuesday Pizza night? Can you get something set up for that by Tuesday? I can have the bike there for three hours but then it HAS to head north". Indianapolis Motogp, Project Mugello and Flat Track 2009 : Year Two for the Indygp and the one thing we all knew for sure was the weather had to be better. No hurricane and a years worth of fine tuning turned a good weekend into a great one. Near perfect weather and a new Ducati Island layout was the centerpiece of 5 days of non-stop activity. Parties, rides, and great racing on both asphalt and dirt attracted both racing heroes and regular folk and the resulting mix was memorable. Laguna Seca MotoGP Ducati Island 2009 : Laguna Seca Ducati Island. It's literally the "Mother of all Ducati Islands" because it all started here. Inspired years ago by the red hillside covered with Ducati's at Donington Park, it's become the world standard for Ducati race weekend parties. It's been a long term partnership really - Ducati North America's goal is to yearly "raise the bar" and the Ducatisti who attend year after year have been hand in hand with the plan, building bikes and planning adventures with this weekend in central focus. This year the stars aligned - the weather was perfect and the date fell over the 4th of July holiday weekend, allowing Ducatisti to spend a three day weekend getting fully into the Island groove. Project Mugello Indy Motogp : Project Mugello. Named for the famous card stunt Ducatisti preform in the Mugello grandstands near Florence, it took a city of Ducatisti to make it happen, 26 Ducati owners clubs in all. First order of business, we needed a grandstand! Then sell 1000 seats, literally a year of work and phone calls. In the end it was all about a couple minutes of pure luck. Literally a card stunt in a hurricane, pulled off in driving rain and 45 mph winds, the remenants of Hurricane Ike. When the time came to raise the cards the wind suddenly died down, we got in our 60 second show and back the winds came with a vengence, proving what WE knew all along, EVERYBODY, even Mother Nature, loves Ducati's! Special thanks to Foremost Insurance who sponsored the grandstand and Joe Kivett of Jacob-Davis Productions whose expertise made the difference when things got tough, the Ducati grandstand team from Bologna, the Desmodromiclubs of Roma and Kansas City, the Hoosier Hooligans, Desmohio and DRILL (among MANY others) for the technical help and manpower needed to perform this miracle. :-) And Extra Special Thanks to Bill Carr at Ducati Indianapolis. DucatiDayDaytona 2009 on Ducati Island : Best one yet? That's what I kept hearing all day. There were an awful lot of things to make me think it might have been, not the least of which was the professional stunt riders aweing the crowd and Nicky Hayden catching a snack in the hospitality tent before signing autographs. VIR AMA 2004 : 2004 VIR was postponed by Hurricane Ivan, and the reschedule date was after the end of the WSBK season. Rumors were already swirling that Ducati was bringing someone in from Europe for 2005 to team with Eric but it was still a total shock for the most part when the announcement was made that Ducati would be running three bikes at VIR - and that current Ducati Corse SBK factory star Regis Laconi, fresh off a 4 race winning streak and just missing the WSBK title to team mate James Toseland would be on one of them. With him was Lorenzo Lanzi, at that time being groomed, it was assumed for big things within Ducati Corse. We came to VIR expecting quite a show. Photos By Vicki Smith
