If you prefer a speedier way to look at the photos the slideshow works well for that, but sometimes eliminates the full captions. Milan Motorcycle Show (EICMA) November 2009 Milan Italy : EICMA is what the Italians call it but most know it as the Milan Motorcycle Show. It's so big one could spend a couple of days trying to take it all in. This years "fair" was marked by plenty of big new bike introductions (here's the link for the shots from Monday night's huge kickoff Ducati press conference:http://photos.ducati.net/Ducati-Events/EICMA-2009-Milan-Motorcycle/10266553_LzjSb ) and a couple of big manufacturers who didn't attend because of the economy. Given that a medium size booth here can cost 100,000 euros I suppose the bigger surprise is that this years fair doesn't seem smaller at all. The first two days are for press and foreign trade visitors and there were plenty of them as well. Join us for a look at what lots of people travel half way around the world to see....... Novegro Motorcycle Swap Meet 2009, Milan Italy : It always amazes me when I arrive at any Italian motorcycle swap meet that the motorcycles and parts that we consider rare or chance sightings in the USA, are so incredibly common here. Mostra Scambio’s (what these events are called in Italian) are held literally every weekend all over Italy. An integral part of this culture that loves motorcycles and prefers cash transactions when possible, the vendors come out in droves. Novegro is the biggest of the winter meets, held the same week in the same town as the giant EICMA motorcycle show, for me it's a great "2-fer", one week of travel at off season airfare produces two great events. Most meets are some mixture of antiques, cars and motorcycles, and this one is as well, but this is motorcycle week in Milan and that's what the focus is here. Novegro has been going on for 29 years and it's huge - 12,000 square meters of indoor vendors and over 60,000 square meters outside, no wonder you can see and find just about everything here if you look hard enough. Indianapolis Motogp, Project Mugello and Flat Track 2009 : Year Two for the Indygp and the one thing we all knew for sure was the weather had to be better. No hurricane and a years worth of fine tuning turned a good weekend into a great one. Near perfect weather and a new Ducati Island layout was the centerpiece of 5 days of non-stop activity. Parties, rides, and great racing on both asphalt and dirt attracted both racing heroes and regular folk and the resulting mix was memorable.
